Runway Optometry

A NEW VISION

Seeking to create a signature flagship in the new Runway Playa Vista shopping center, the client approached AAHA Studio with the task of developing a ground-up retail experience and brand for their luxury eyewear boutique. 

AAHA Studio contributed to the project in all phases of the design including retail concept, schematics, design development, custom millwork, furniture selection and procurement, branding and signage, project management, city approvals and construction administration.

The brand and logo reflect the simplicity and elegance of the physical space while subtly nodding to the eyewear you'll find inside.

Vertical hand-rubbed plaster columns frame the custom glass and mirror eyewear vitrines which rhythmically dance on flanking sides of the space.

A muted snake-wood veneer is the backdrop for each luxury eyewear brand; bringing a subtle warmth to the cool grays that define the palette and are punctuated by exposed mirror-bulb pendants hanging just overhead. Two center display cases conceal stock storage while providing a comfortable respite for customers to try on eyewear. Exam rooms and back-of-house spaces are tucked neatly behind the main point-of-sale desk and feature wall. The brand and logo reflect the simplicity and elegance of the physical space while subtly nodding to the eyewear you'll find inside.
